Fit For ALL

Tammy Curtis
Owner & Head Personal Trainer
How it all started
My interest in fitness began at a young age when I tried my hand at as many different sports as my parents would let me. One of those sports was indoor volleyball which I ended up excelling in, leading me all the way to a scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport and onto the National team. Years of training and competing at the elite level and being submersed in that environment piqued my interest to explore working in the fitness industry as a career.
Experience and education
Whilst pursuing my sporting career I completed a Diploma in Recreation & Fitness giving me my first taste of working as a Personal Trainer in a variety of commercial and public gyms settings. I moved to London and worked as a trainer for a global legal firm (Linklaters) which gave me insight to the constraints of corporate clients and how best to influence a balanced and healthy approach to their lifestyle. Upon my return to Australia, I managed the EY corporate gym for 6 years honing my skills until 2012 when I took the leap into starting my own PT business.
Over this time, I have trained clients across a breadth of age groups, who have had differing physical abilities and many with varying ailments. I have helped clients through cancer, diabetes, auto-immune diseases, obesity, and musculoskeletal injuries. I’m a believer that exercise is for everyone hence my choice of business name – Fit for All.
A major trend I’ve noticed is almost all new clients present with pain or discomfort. Although that may not be the reason for sourcing a PT initially, it became clear to me that pain and discomfort hold people back and need addressing. I was also starting to notice myself having to work through some niggling injuries as well as recovering from major knee surgeries (see Blog). As a result, I focussed my education and training around corrective exercise and working alongside physiotherapists and remedial therapists with the aim for clients to be pain-free and better functioning. I’m currently a NASM qualified Corrective Exercise Specialist and a Rehab trainer which kits me with skills and knowledge around injury rehabilitation.
Living example
I’m a big believer in practicing what you preach so outside of working I like to stay balanced so you will most likely find me cycling, playing golf, lifting weights or on weekends driving my vintage Mustang. I also enjoy motorbike riding, travelling and food of course!
